Rupee Falls By 6 Paise Against Dollar |
The Indian rupee shed 6 paise to Rs 46.22 per dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange on Thursday as the US currency firmed up against other major rivals overseas.
Dealers attributed the rupee’s fall to sustained dollar demand from importers and some banks, despite a firming trend in the domestic equity market.
The rupee had fallen by 5 paise to a one-year low of Rs 46.16/17 against the US currency in the previous session due to dollar demand from importers and some banks.
Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex was up by 60.84 points, or 0.35 per cent, at 17,125.84 in opening trade on Thursday.
