Rupee Gains 2 Paise Against U.S. Dollar |
The Indian rupee strengthened by 2 paise to Rs 44.93 per dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange on Friday, supported by dollar weakness against the Euro and other currencies overseas and a higher opening in the stock market.
The rupee had depreciated by 6 paise to close at Rs 44.95/96 against the U.S. currency in Thursday’s trade on the back of a firm dollar overseas.
Forex dealers said dollar weakness against the Euro and other currencies overseas and a higher start in the stock market mainly supported the rupee’s rise against the American dollar, but dollar demand from oil importers capped the gains.
