Seafood exports to China to get quarantine certificate: MPEDA |
Kolkata, May 15 (PTI) The Export Inspection Council of India will soon issue the required inspection and quarantine certificate to seafood exports to China, marine export body MPEDA said today. The Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) in a press release said that China had issued a notification in May last year stipulating that an inspection and quarantine certificate would have to accompany all seafood exports to that country. Following this, it was widely speculated that China was going to ban Indian seafood exports from June 1, 2012. "It is not correct and June 1 is the proposed date of implementation of the certification requirement," the release said. The MPEDA and Export Inspection Council of India (EIG) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry had approached the Chinese authorities through the Embassy of India in Beijing on this issue, it said. The Export Inspection Council of India would be issuing the required certificates for seafood exports to China, the release said, adding export of seafood from India to China would not be affected by this.
