Tata Steel Kalinganagar plant begins exports of hot rolled coils.

KOLKATA: Tata Steel Kalinganagar flagged off of the first rake of hot rolled coils from the plant for exports on Wednesday. The hot rolled coils will be exported to customers in Nepal through the border at Raxaul.

T V Narendran, Tata Steel managing director for India & South East Asia flagged off the export consignment of around 3000 tonne of hot rolled coils being sent to key customers in Nepal. Rajiv Kumar, Vice President (Operations), Tata Steel Kalinganagar and senior officials of Tata Steel were present on the occasion.

"Tata Steel has set itself an ambitious export target from its Kalinganagar plant to cater to various segments across different geographies," the company said in a statement adding that products from Kalinganagar have been very well received in the market and the" ramp up is on schedule both in terms of quantity and quality."

Tata Steel is setting up of a six million tonne per annum (mtpa) integrated steel plant at Kalinganagar in Jajpur district in two phases of three mtpa each. The state-of-the-art steel plant started commercial production in May 2016.
