Fires broke out at units of Kuwait’s key oil refining complex early Friday following a drone attack, Reuters reported citing state media, raising fresh concerns over the security of critical energy infrastructure in the region.
The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation said its Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery was targeted in the early hours of the day.
“Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery [was] hit by drones early on Friday, causing fires at operating units, no injuries reported,” the state news agency quoted the company as saying.
The Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery is one of Kuwait’s largest and most strategically significant oil processing facilities, playing a central role in the country’s energy exports.
