Indian rupee depreciates by 6 paise at 67.33 against US dollar in early trade |
Indian rupee which gained 8 paise on Tuesday opened weak against the US dollar on Wednesday at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market and dropped 6 paise to trade at 67.33 as demand for dollar rose among importers and banks.
At 9.27 am, the local currency was trading 2 paise down at 67.29. It had closed with gains of 8 paise at 67.27 on Tuesday.
Yen surged in the world markets following hopes for further monetary and fiscal stimulus before Bank of Japan policy makers meet this week.
Domestic stock markets positive opening capped rupee’s fall. At 9.33 am, Sensex was trading 133.31 points up at 28,109.83, while NSE Nifty was trading 40.75 points up at 8,631.40.
