Rupee up 30 Paise to 44.85 on Dollar Sale |
MUMBAI: The Indian rupee on Wednesday rose by 30 paise to 44.85 against the US dollar in the early trade as exporters sold the American currency guided by weak global cues.
At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the domestic unit resumed higher at 44.90/91 per dollar against the overnight closing level of 45.15/16 a dollar and rallied further to 44.85.
Forex dealers said that exporters preferred to sell dollars in view of fall in the overseas market.
In New York, the dollar extended losses against the euro and other major currencies after a report showed that the US consumer confidence fell more than anticipated this month, giving the Federal Reserve further reason to ease monetary policy.
