Indian containerized shredded scrap import prices up in the week ending Aug. 15 |

MUMBAI : India containerized scrap import prices advanced by $3 a ton week-on-week to $389 a ton in an extremely choppy market last week, as per the latest figures released by The Steel Index.
Mills have lowered their bid prices significantly in the face of continuing poor finished steel sales and a depreciating rupee, whilst international suppliers have kept their offers largely stable.
This spread has meant trade has been slow, with only a few small-tonnage cargoes being delivered into India, and pricing varying greatly depending on the region of procurement.
