In
exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 of the foreign Trade (Development
& Regulation) Act, 1992 (No. 22 of 1992) read with paragraph 4.1 of Export
and Import Policy, 1997-2002, the Central Government hereby makes the following
amendment in ITC (HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items 1997-2002,
published on 31st March, 1997 and as amended from time to time.
1.
The following Import Licensing note shall be added at the end of Chapter
15:
"(4) All edible oils which are presently freely importable under
various Exim code headings shall be freely importable subject to the condition
that the Importer have to intimate in advance of 30 days indicating the
following information to the Directorate of Vanaspati, Vegetable Oils and Fats
with a copy to Customs by Registered post:
(i) Type
of oil;
(ii) date
of contract and actual import;
(iii) quantity;
(iv) price;
and
(v) origin.
