Subject:- Amendment/modification of SION Nos.
H-206 and A-1687.
In exercise of the powers conferred under Paragraph 2.4 of the Foreign Trade
Policy, 2009-14, the following amendments are made in the Handbook of Procedure
Vol. II ( as stated in paragraph 1.1 of Vol.I):
I. In SION No. H-206 of Plastic Product Group (Product Code H), following
amendments are carried out:
(A) In Import Items, Import Item No. 6 is amended to read as follows:

Rest of the items (either description or quantity permitted) remain

(B) Following notes are inserted:
Note 1: Import item at Serial Number 3 Isophthalic Acid can
be replaced with Import item at Serial Number 1 Purified Terephthalic Acid upto
a maximum of 0.045 MT. However, any increase / decrease in quantity of
Isophthalic Acid will be adjusted from the quantity of Import item at Serial
Number 1 Purified Terephthalic Acid and total quantity of Import item at Serial
Number 1 Purified Terephthalic Acid and Import item at Serial Number 3
Isophthalic Acid will not exceed from the level of 0.8680 MT.
Note 2: Import item at Serial Number 4 Diethylene Glycol may
be allowed upto a maximum of 0.01 MT from the existing level of 0.008 MT for
each increased/decreased quantity of 0.001MT Diethylene Glycol; the quantity of
0.00032 MT of Import item at Serial Number 1. Purified Terephthalic Acid and
0.0065 MT of Import item at Serial Number 2 Ethylene Glycol/Monoethylene Glycol
(MEG) be decreased / increased from the quantities allowed in SION.
Effect of this amendment:
The exporter would be entitled for import of alternate Import Item namely
Antimony Triacetate indicated at S.No. 6 of the amended SION No. H-206. The
above facility has been extended subject to conditions vide Note 1 and 2 above.
Allowing of alternate raw material would facilitate exporters for the
manufacture of Polyester (PET) Chips for wide ranging applications depending
upon the export requirement.

II. In SION No. A-1687 of Chemical Product Group (Product Code: A), in the
description of Export Product, Import Item No. 1 and Import Item No. 2(a)
amendments are carried as described below (The other import items and
their quantity remain unchanged):

Effect of this amendment:
Replacement of steel and aluminium automobile parts with engineering plastics
would help in reducing weight of automobile parts which in turn would help in
increasing fuel efficiency.
