NOTIFICATION No. 16/2017-Central Excise

New Delhi, the 30^th, June, 2017

G.S.R. ___ (E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government, on being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 23/2003-Central Excise, dated the 31^st March, 2003, published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i) vide number G.S.R 266 (E), dated the 31^st March, 2003, namely :-

2. In the said notification, -

(a) in the opening paragraph, for the words, digits and brackets “Chapter, heading No. or sub-heading No. of the First Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986) (hereinafter referred to as the Central Excise Tariff Act)”, the words and digits “Chapter No. of the Fourth Schedule of the Central Excise Act, 1944” shall be substituted;

(b) in the TABLE, -

(i) Sr.No’s 3A and 5 to 21 and the entries relating thereto shall be omitted;

(ii) in Sr.No. 4, in Column (3), the words, figures and letters “,other than those referred to in Sr. Nos 5, 5A, 6, 7 and 7A of this Table” shall be omitted;

(c) after the TABLE, in the ANNEXURE, the conditions at Sr. Nos 3A and 5 to 10 and the entries relating thereto shall be omitted.

3. This notification shall come into force with effect from the 1^st July, 2017.

Note. - The principal notification No. 23/2003-Central Excise, dated the 31^st March, 2003 was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide G.S.R 266 (E), dated the 31^st March, 2003 and last amended by notification No. 28/2015-Central Excise dated the 15^th May, 2015 published vide G.S.R. 388 (E), dated the 15^th May, 2015.
