Amendments in Exim Policy

In
exercise of powers conferred by section 5 of the Foreign Trade
(Development and Regulation) Act, 1992
(No. 22 of 1992) read with paragraph 1.3 of the Export and Import Policy,
1997-2002 (incorporating amendment
made upto 13.4.98), the Central Government hereby makes following amendments in
the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002: (incorporating
amendment made upto 13.4.98).
The
following may be added after the word sericulture in the table given under
paragraph 6.2 relating to Zero Duty in case CIF value is Rs.1, crore or more.
Biotechnology Sector and the following sub-sectors of engineering
sectors:
Machine tools, parts and accessories thereof; automotive components and
accessories; bicycle parts and accessories; hand tools, cutting and small tools;
castings and forgings (ferrous and
non ferrous) all sorts; pumps, electric motors and parts thereof, fasteners, all
types (ferrous and non-ferrous);
bright bars and shafting; scientific and surgical instruments.
2.
Paragraph 9.13 (b) shall be amended to read as under:
EOU/ EPZ/ EHTP/ STP units shall, on production of a suitable disclaimer
from the DTA suppliers, be eligible for obtaining the benefits specified in
paragraph 10.3 (b)
(c) and (d) of the Policy.
For this purpose, they shall get Brand Rates fixed by the DGFT. Such supplies
would, however, be eligible for benefits specified in paragraph
(a) above.
