(i)
A total quantity of 100,000 MT of all varieties of onion shall be allowed
for exports for the next two months from the date of notification till
31.3.2000. Out of the total quantity of 100000 MT, the quantities shall be
allocated to the following agencies as follows:
(a)
NAFED is allowed to export 50000 MTs directly or through its associate
shippers. Out of 50000 MT, NAFED will export 5000 MT to Srilanka,
Mauritius, Maldives and other SAARC countries.
(b)
Karnataka State Agriculture Produce Processing and Export Corporation Ltd,
(KAPPEC) Bangalore and Karnataka State Cooperative Marketing
Federation Ltd, (KSCMF),
Bangalore are allowed to export 2500 MTs each of all varieties of onions
either directly or through registered exporters ensuring that all
applicants are receiving a fair and equal treatment.
(c)
The Maharashtra State Agriculture Marketing Board
(MSAMB) is allowed to export 20000 MTs of all varieties of onion
each either directly or through registered exporters ensuring that all
applicants are receiving a fair and equal treatment.
(d)
The Gujarat Agro industries corporation
(GAIC) is allowed to export 15000 MTs of all varieties of onion
each either directly or through registered exporters ensuring that all
applicants are receiving a fair and equal treatment.
(e)
The Andhra Pradesh Marketing Federation
(AP MARK FED) is allowed to export 10000 MTs of all varieties of
onion each either directly or through registered exporters ensuring that
all applicants are receiving a fair and equal treatment.
(ii)
All onions exported will be subject to a Minimum Export Price
(MEP) fixed by NAFED.
(iii)
The agencies named above shall ensure that the quantities released now are
to be exported within the time prescribed i.e. 31.3.2000.
(iv)
The careful selection of exporters is made to eliminate the trading in
permits to export onions.
(v)
The agencies shall ensure that quality of onions is maintained.
(vi)
A weekly report of permits issued shall be provided to NAFED, which shall
act as a nodal agency to keep the Government of India informed of the
outflow of onions.
