Notification No. 230 dated 6^th July 1988

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944(1 of 1944), and in supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 38-Central Excises, dated the 1^st March, 1987, the Central Government being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby exempts:

(a)    catalysts, ingots, powder and sponge, of any of the metals specified in the Table below, and

(b)    compounds of such metals for making such catalysts, falling within Chapter 28, Chapter 38 or Chapter 71 of the Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985 (5 of 1986) and manufactured out of used or spent catalysts of such metals or metal recovered from old or sued articles, or both, from so much of the duty of excise leviable thereon which is specified in the said Schedule as is in excess of the duty calculated with reference to the value of material, if any added and the amount charged  for such manufacture.
