DEPB Scheme
Public Notice No. 16 dated 6th June 1997
1. Attention is invited to paragraph 7.25 of the Export and Import Policy 1997 -2002 and Public Notice No.5 (PN)/ 1997-2002 dated 8th April, 1997 and Public Notice No. 10/ 1997-2002 dated 21st May, 1997.
2. In exercise of the powers conferred under paragraph 4.11 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997 -2002, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby notifies the credit rates under DEPB Scheme in respect of items as given in the Annexure to this Public Notice. The annexure will form part of Appendix-28A of Handbook of Procedures (Vol.1), 1997-2002.
3. Para 7.36 shall be amended to read as follows:
The exports/ imports made from the ports given in paragraph 7.19 alone shall be entitled for DEPB. However, the following shall be considered as single port for the purpose of DEPB:
a. Mumbai Sea Port, Nhava Sheva and Mumbai Airport in Mumbai;
b. Delhi Airport and Delhi ICDs in Delhi.
c. Calcutta Sea Port, Calcutta Airport and Petra pole in West Bengal.
d. Chennai Airport and Chennai Sea Port in Chennai
4. The following shall be inserted as paragraph 7.36B after the existing paragraph 7.36A in the Handbook (Vol.1);
"The credit under DEPB may also be utilised for payment of customs duty on any item imported under freely transferable Special Import licence".
