Export of Sugar
from the free sale quota of 1996-97 Sugar Season (Oct - Sept)
Policy Circular No. 6 dated 17th June 1997
Attention is
invited to the entry at S.No. 25 of Schedule 2 Appendix 1 of the book titled
"ITC (HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items 1997-2002",
Export Instruction No. 17/ 96-97 dated 13th February, 1997 releasing a ceiling
of 2,50,000 (two lakh fifty thousand) MTs for export of Sugar during the period
October, 1996 to September, 1997 and to the policy Circular No. 3/ 97-98 dated
22.4.97 whereby the quantity of sugar earmarked for export by M/ s. Indian
Sugar & General Industry Export Import Corporation (ISGIEIC) Ltd. under
preferential arrangements was enhanced from 20.000 MTs to 35,500 MTs as per the
details indicated in the said circular.
2.���� It
has now been decided to enhance the quantity of 35,500 (thirty five thousand
and five hundred) MTs of Sugar earmarked for export by M/ s. Indian Sugar &
General Industry Export Import Corporation (ISGIEIC) Ltd. to a quantity of
36,300 (thirty six thousand and three hundred) MTs for export to European Union
(EU) and USA under the preferential arrangements as per the details indicated
below:
1.������ European Union (EU)
(a)�� White Sugar�� 10,000 MTs
(b)�� Raw Sugar�� 10,500 MTs
2.������ U.S.A. Raw
��������� Sugar���� 15,800 MTs
3.���� The
Indian Sugar & General Industry Export Corporation (ISGIEIC) Ltd. shall be
the sole agency Authorised to export Raw/ White Sugar to the European Union and
USA against the preferential ceiling as indicated above. The export of above
quantity of Raw/ White Sugar to the European Union and the USA under the
preferential arrangements as indicated above shall also be subject to
prescribed pre-shipment certification by the Export Inspection Council.
4.���� The
overall quantity ceiling of 2,50,000 (two lakh fifty thousand) MTs for export
of Sugar from the free sale quota of 1996-97 Sugar Season i.e. from the period
of 1st October 1 996 to 30th September, 1997 and also the other terms and
conditions of the above referred Export Instruction No.17 / 96-97 dated 13th
February, 1997 shall remain unchanged.
