Notification No. 43 dated 22^nd November 2000

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 (No. 22 of 1992) read with paragraph 1.3 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002 (incorporating amendment made upto 31.3.2000), the Central Government hereby makes following amendments in the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002: (incorporating amendment made upto 31.3.2000).

Attention is invited to Notification No. 32(RE-2000)/1997-2002 dated 1^st September, 2000 making it mandatory for all exports as stated in the aforesaid notification to implement bar coding using international symbologies/ international numbering standard w.e.f. 1^st December, 2000.

In view of various representations received, the issue has been re-examined. Keeping in view the difficulties faced by trade and industry to adopt bar coding from 1^st December 2000, it has been decided to postpone the date of implementation from 1^st December 2000 to 1^st April 2001.
