Import of Horned Marbles Restricted List of Exports
Policy Circular No. 21 dated 3rd October 1997
Attention is invited to EXIM Code heading 68.02 of Chapter 68 of ITC (HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 1997 -2002.
2. This Office has received references from Customs Authorities and some representations from individual firms seeking clarification on the classification of 'Honed marble' as to whether it shall be classified under EXIM Code No.680221 01 or under 680 221 09.
3. It is hereby clarified that 'Honed marble' is not to be treated differently from marble blocks/ slabs/ tiles, polished covered under EXIM Code No.680221 01 which is presently restricted, Actually, 'Honed marble' is covered under EXIM Code Heading 68022101 and its import is restricted, "This clarification shall be applicable for those imported consignments also which have taken place, prior 'to issue of Notification No. 7/ 97: 02 dated 24th June, 1997.
4. This issues with the approval of Director General of Foreign Trade.
