In exercise of powers conferred under section 5 of
the Foreign Trade (Development and
Regulation) Act, 1992 read with paragraph 1.3 and 4.1 of the Export and Import
Policy, 1997-2002, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments
in the Notification of Government of India, Ministry of Commerce No. 28 (RE-
(98)/1997-2002 dated the 30th October 1998, namely, -

Import of Mulberry Raw Silk conforming to Grade 2A
and above only is Canalised through National Handloom Development
Corporation (NHDC),
Handicrafts and Handlooms Export Corporation, State Handloom Development
Corporations and other State Corporations dealing with Handloom/ Power
loom and Silk. Before finalising any import contract, the above-mentioned
canalising agencies shall inform Ministry of Textiles, Government of
India.
