Regarding tenure of the executive personnel in the internal Audit Wing -
Instructions

No. 467 dated 5th July 1999
It
has been brought to the notice of the Board that the guidelines contained in the
Audit Manual regarding tenure of personnel in the Internal Audit Wing are not
being observed by some Commissionerates. The contents of the guidelines are
reproduced below:
"the
personnel selected for audit work should be those having sufficient knowledge of
Central Excise Rules and procedures. The executive personnel viz. Inspectors
selected for audit should have a minimum of 5 years service in that cadre,
preferably in a Range. The tenure of the incumbent who would be getting special
pay, will be in 3 years"

The Board has decided that the aforesaid guidelines should be strictly
adhered to.
