New Delhi, May 21 The government has slapped an anti-dumping duty of up to USD 97 per piece on cathode ray colour television picture tubes being imported from China and Korea to protect domestic players.
The Finance Ministry imposed the duty on the recommendation of the Directorate General of Anti-dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD).
The duty has been imposed on tubes being imported from China, Thailand, Korea and Singapore. The duty would range between USD 21.77 and USD 9753, the Finance Ministry said in a notification.
"The anti-dumping duty imposed under this notification shall be levied with effect from the date of imposition of the provisional anti-dumping duty, that is, July 24, 2008, and shall be payable in Indian currency,"it said.
The DGAD, under the Commerce Ministry, had found that imports are taking place at dumped prices and that have caused material injury to the domestic industry.
