New Delhi: India is looking to create special farm sector indices as part of a wider plan focused on targeted policy interventions to lift agri productivity and incomes after efforts to introduce reforms in the sector, through the later recalled farm laws, failed to take off.
A senior government official told ET that the preparatory work had started at the level of Niti Aayog as well as the ministry of agriculture and farmers welfare, and that the policy interventions may be rolled out after the general elections in 2024.
