Least dependence on defence imports |
BHUBANESWAR: Kota Harinaryana, chief designer of light combat aircraft (LCA) Tejas, here on Friday said indigenous technology in the field of military aviation is important for country's defence preparedness.
Speaking at the ninth day of celebrations of IIT Bhubaneswar, Harinaryana said that there must be least dependence on imported materials in defence. Sharing his thought and achievement in design of the LCA, which was inducted by the Indian Air Force recently, Narayana advised students to be more accurate and quality concerned in achieving the target.
He emphasized on the significance of networking in achieving a product having national importance with highest organizational skills of our people. The project, which led to the successful launch of a LCA, was a massive conglomerated effort of more than 100 institutions, laboratories and scientific centers, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, IIT director R V Raja Kumar said IIT has shifted its 85% of the activities to the permanent campus and is on its way to locate its 100 per cent operation from there within the next two years.
