‘Probe labour law violations at Cochin SEZ’ |
KOCHI: CPI national executive member and AITUC state general secretary Kanam Rajendran on Friday demanded the appointment of a committee to probe the labour law violations in Cochin Special Economic Zone (CSEZ) companies.
Rajendran was addressing a 24-hour dharna, condemning the strip search incident, organised by Kerala Mahila Sangham on CSEZ premises. He alleged that the inquiry report by a committee appointed by CSEZ development commissioner was aimed at protecting the company interests.
Sangham state working president Indira Raveendran, general secretary Kamala Sadanandan and AITUC district president K K Ashraf also spoke.
Meanwhile, senior leaders of AITUC and CITU on Friday held talks for launching a joint agitation demanding the reopening of the company, Asma Rubber Products. Company MD C Y A Rahim, however, said it would remain closed until the police investigation was completed.
