Exports of Carpets - BG for payment on D/ A basis
Public Notice No. 41 dated 11th September 1997
In exercise of the powers conferred under paragraph 4.11 of the export and import policy 1997-2002, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby makes the following amendments in schedule 2 appendix 1 of the book title "ITC (HS)" classifications of export and import items 1997-2002.
2. In the entry appearing at serial No. 13 of schedule 2 appendix 1 of the book titled "ITC (HS) classification of export and import items 1997- 2002", the following shall be added after serial No. 13 as serial No. 13 (ii):

"13 (ii) Hand made woollen carpets including other floor covering like woollen durries, druggets, gabbas & namdhas.

Export on the basis of documents against acceptance (D/A) shall not be allowed unless backed by Bank Guarantee."

3. The above condition shall however not apply for a period of 45 days from the date of issue of this Public Notice to enable the exporters to fulfill their export commitments made on plain D/ A terms prior to issue of this Public Notice.
4. Exporters having their own subsidiaries/ trading companies/ office-cum- warehouses, opened after due approval of RBI, shall be exempted from the conditions of the Public Notice subject to the fulfilment of RBI rules concerning the terms of payment.
