Public Notice No. 51 dated 2nd January 2001 (As amended by Public Notice No. 31 dated 1st August 2001)
Attention is invited to the entry at Code No. 5205 in Table B of Schedule 2 and Sl. No. 6 of Appendix-I to Schedule 2 in the book titled �ITC (HS) Classification of Export Import Items, 1997-2002� specifying the terms and conditions for export of items indicated therein.
2. In exercise of the powers conferred under Paragraph 4.11 of the Export & Import Policy, 1997-2002, (incorporating amendments made upto 31st March, 2000) the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby specifies the quantitative ceiling for export of Cotton Yarn for the calendar year 2001 as under: -
(i) Ceiling of 500 million Kgs. for Cotton yarn of 1 to 40s counts.
(ii) Ceiling of 20 million Kgs. for hank yarn of 1 of 60s counts.
(iii) However, the following categories shall be exempted from the ceiling limits:
(a) Exports by 100% EOUs. However, exports by such units, having count restrictions, will be subject to the ceiling prescribed by the Ministry of Textiles.
(b) Exports under advance licence scheme.
(c) Exports based on cotton imported.
(d) Exports of EPCG units to the extent of meeting annualised export obligation. However, more than their obligation, if exported, will be debited to the ceiling. Those EPCG units which are subject to restrictions pertaining to count/ sourcing domestic cotton would be permitted to export cotton yarn without such restrictions upto 31st December, 2001 as long as such exports are also within the overall quantitative ceiling of 500 million Kgs.
(e) All exports against bilateral quotas.
(f) All exports of 41s and above counts; and
(g) Exports of processed yarn.
3. This will be effective from 1st January 2001.
